And it's not as though they are just putting notices up on their website. From Anti-Gun advocate AHSA president Ray Schoenke:
I have been campaigning in battleground states, including Ohio, Minnesota, Florida and Colorado for Barack Obama this fall. I know first-hand that gun owners are voting for Obama. They know their gun rights are secure. And they want a president who won't take their guns AND will focus on the economy and their jobs. It's beyond appalling that hard-core gun activists would destroy the economic livelihood of a guy like Dan Cooper. John McCain should be ashamed that his supporters have harmed a small business owner for political reasons. That should never happen in the America.
It's true ... many gun owners are voting for Sen. Obama. And if they only want the select weapons that AHSA and the Brady Campaign will allow (the stated goals of the ASHA and the Brady Campaign are exactly the same, as I have previously pointed out) then Mr. Obama and the large democratic majority he is bound to get in Congress will not take away their guns -- at least for the next few years.
But if you want to own a gun not approved by anti-gun groups such as AHSA or the Brady Campaign, such as a semi-automatic rifle, Obama and his ilk will make sure you can't because you don't "need it." And they won't be bothered by the fact that we already had a 10 year ban that did nothing to make America safer -- it's not results that matter, it's limiting gun choices and making sure that gun ownership is too difficult and expensive for any but the most elite.
But that is the point of AHSA -- to divide shortsighted hunters who don't realize or don't care that eventually their guns will be the ones up for seizure from sport shooters who are already under pressure in many states.
This is wrong, and rank and file gun owners who have no political ax to grind need to stand up, reject such underhanded tactics and have their voices heard. That's why AHSA was formed, to end this partisan bullying and to restore pride to the shooting sports. This action against Cooper reinforces my commitment to making change happen by electing Obama - and by building an organization for hunters and shooters who are tired of extremism.
Hmmm. So if Mr. Schoenke has no "political axe to grind," then why is he out actively stomping for and supporting the candidate who wants more restrictive laws vs. the one supporting less restrictive laws?
Make no mistake ... the AHSA was formed to CREATE partisan bullying against the Republicans and gun owners who dare to not be satisfied to be limited in their gun ownership to a bolt-action hunting rifle, not defend the rights of shooters OR hunters.
And the change we get by electing Obama will NOT be the change that Hunters and Shooters want. Real hunters and shooters, anyway; the anti-gun members of the AHSA will be quite pleased.

My first name is William, and I can tell someone is trying to sell me something when they start the conversation with:

Yesterday, The USA Today reported that Dan Cooper, founder and owner of Cooper Firearms, lost his job. The reason: He's voting for Obama:
so, I didn't pay any attention, don't they know that we know who they are?
Sure informed people like you know, Earl. Probably most people who read pro-gun blogs.
But unfortunately the bulk of gun owners own a firearm or two but are barely conscious of political issues. And when they hear in mainstream media from a group named "American Hunters and Shooters" that claims to be pro gun and agrees with their candidate choice, they listen closely (because it confirms what they want to hear) and then shut out the "extremists" at the NRA or some real pro-gun group.
Just trying to keep the word out there. I see people coming to this site to read these posts from searches for AHSA, so hopefully I've gotten the word out to at least a few apathetic gun owners of what this trojan horse group is all about.
Thanks for reading!
